Bandeau 1

According to a 2015 AC Nielsen survey conducted in 13 countries around the world 66% of consumers say they are willing to pay more for sustainable brands. We have become increasingly concerned about the impact of our purchasing decisions on the environment, our communities and our well-being. We prefer to give our hard-earned money to greener, more ethical businesses, and to companies that provide healthier and locally sourced products and services. Does this hold true for you? To what extent are your purchasing decisions motivated by moral or environmental concerns? Find out where you stand by taking this quiz to assess your level of social responsibility as a consumer.

As a consumer, doing your part for the environment means:

Quizz: What kind of socially responsible consumer are you?
The social worrier

Responsible consumption is second nature for you. You are very aware of the world’s environmental and social issues and you believe you must do your utmost to restore the balance between human interests and economic interests. You are ready to give of your time and pay more when needed for goods and services that promote a fairer distribution of wealth. Naturally suspicious of innovation and technology, you believe we need to upgrade our inner “software” to put the world back on the right track.

Quizz: What kind of socially responsible consumer are you?
The green tech-lover

Your heightened sense of ecological and social responsibility aligns with your consumption habits and your love of innovation—as long as they support ethical and sustainable goals. You therefore spend your money on brands and organizations that prioritize environmental protection and workers’ rights, and you proudly display their logos. You make extensive use of social media to promote causes you believe in and you never hesitate to publicly display your values. For you, ethics and etiquette go hand in hand!

Quizz: What kind of socially responsible consumer are you?
The local frugal

Your sense of social responsibility leads you to act locally because you see that as the best way to enact change. You believe that small is beautiful: you never consume more than what you need, and you choose products and services that promote the solidarity economy. You try to make a difference every day by doing things like buying recycled products, reducing your transportation footprint and minimizing your energy costs. Your ideal lifestyle? A self-sufficient farm, hand-woven wool clothing and evenings spent in front of the fire. Admit it—you are (a bit) nostalgic for the hippie era!

Quizz: What kind of socially responsible consumer are you?
The prudent saver

Your desire to save money overrides your ecological concerns and your sense of social responsibility. Life is not cheap, and buying organic and local products makes it even more expensive! Although you understand the ethical and environmental arguments of certain brands and organizations, you are almost never willing to pay more for their products. Their claims also make you a bit suspicious: you can never be sure if the money is really going to support their causes! You prefer to hunt for bargains and reduce your expenses, even if that means compromising your quality of life. Truth be told, that even makes you a bit proud. Your favourite saying? “We cannot want what we do not know.”

Quizz: What kind of socially responsible consumer are you?
The uninhibited hedonist

Social responsibility is not an integral part of your lifestyle. You are rather hedonistic in your daily life and your consumption is driven by your desires, although you are aware of the ethical and environmental impacts of the products and services you buy. Your choices are primarily guided by pleasure. If your purchases help promote a good cause, so much the better, but you do not lose sleep otherwise. You see yourself as realistic and pragmatic, and you are not looking to transform the world. The world will not change overnight, and you prefer to experience everything it has to offer. Life is too short to deprive yourself!
